Back in the third grade a bunch of us used to hang out together and John came up with a nickname for our little group and coined us the "Mrukies" after the show on TV at the time, for John and I it was his little brother's big wheel we shared, we took that thing everywhere, rode it down the hill at Richfield cemetary, hoping we would not get caught, rode it down the sidewalk along 303. We rode it till the front wheel fell off.
We were trouble looking for a place to happen. We wondered the fields between Richfield elementary and his parents house and never seemed to get lost no matter how far we wandered.
I hated leaving but my parents decided to move in 1973 and I did not get to see him again till the sixth grade, even then it was just like old times.
Although we kind of lost track for awhile after that, I had always cherished our friendship, then in the summer of 2012 my wife and I stopped in to say hello as we were travelling to Tennessee by way of Ohio.
I had just heard of his passing 3/2017 and my heart goes out to his family which sadly I had never met.
