In my 30 years at Tri-C, Dennis was one person I always treasured seeing. He truly was an authenic human being. There are, unfortunately, many pompous and arrogant people in higher education. They reign from their high towers, but not Dennis. I once attended a department meeting in which all the full-time faculty spent the first 20 minutes complaining about their students, about the poor quality of writing, and on and on. I was so grateful for Dennis. He was the lone voice that spoke up and reminded them all that the students were the reason that the faculty had jobs, and that they (the faculty) should do their job and teach their students what they needed to know, and he added that all the faculty should remember how easy their jobs are in comparison to most of the other jobs people do every day around the world. That silenced the complaining. I am so forlorn that I will not see Dennis again in this life, but i am truly grateful for having known him. He was a man of great integrity, an inspiriing teacher, and a wonderful man. Thank you Dennis for your life well lived. May your new life be yet another great adventure. Until we meet again, goodbye dear friend.
