Condolence: Prof. Lant was a joyful, capable, inspired professor. I took him for classes at Cleveland State University in the late 1970s-1980 or so. I learned a lot. So sorry to discover his obituary online months after he has died. May friends and family of Prof. Lant find comfort.

Condolence: I only learned today of Herr Lant's death. I was a student of his from 1966-70. He was one of my all-time favorite professors...you could tell he loved teaching and enjoyed his interaction with students. I had a double major of English and German, and he inspired me to continue with German. I always remembered him fondly, and he indeed was a great man.
