Obituary for Jane Cozby

Jane Cozby
JANE COZBY, 88 years old. Beloved wife of the late William Cozby. Jane was a member of the Old Stone Church and Collinwood Congregational Church where she and Bill were married, a union that lasted for 63 years. Daughter of Gertrude and Mervin Rowley and dear sister of the late Mervin Rowley. Born and raised in Cleveland, Jane was inducted as a member of the National Honor Society of Glenville High School in May of 1944. She attended the Cleveland School of Art to study fashion design, a passion she maintained throughout her life. An accomplished seamstress, she created everything from draperies and slipcovers to toys for the grandkids. As a vocal musician, Jane was a long-time member of, past president, and costume designer for the Westowne Chapter of the Sweet Adelines. She was named Sweet Adeline of the year in 1981. Jane was active in the Brecksville Little Theater performing in such productions as “The King and I” and “H.M.S. Pinafore”. Jane and Bill loved to dance; big-band ballroom dancing as well as Line and Square dancing. Whatever the music, they knew the steps! Jane’s artistry extended from oil painting to china painting. She was accomplished in both, gifting many beautiful works to family and friends. Her fond memories will forever live in the hearts of her children; Nancy Drake (Floyd), Charley Cozby (Debbie), Alan Cozby (Susan), and Edith Biskup (Dan). Grandchildren Joe, Kris, Casey, Kelley, Colin, Douglas, Kenny and Amy will forever cherish her kindness, love and compassion. Good stories and memories of her will be passed on to her eleven great grandchildren. Family will receive friends at NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD., BRECKSVILLE, OH 44141 on Friday, June 19 from 12-2 P.M. where Jane’s Memorial Service will be held at 2 P.M. A private burial will follow at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.
