RUDOLPH ANTON VERNER “Rudy” of Granger Township, Medina, OH died on April 27, 2015, at the age of 64 years, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He leaves behind his devoted wife Faye Verner; his sons Duane (Melinda) of Cary, NC, Rudy (Liza Getches) of Boulder, CO, Eddie (Jennifer) of Broadview Heights, OH and Brendan Verner of Orlando, FL; his mother Frances Verner, brother Randy (Sharon) of Chagrin Falls, OH, niece Danielle Verner, nephew Justin Verner and his six grandchildren (his little Bobo’s) Nina, Olivia, Owen, David, Ayla and Rudy.

Rudy was born on April 21, 1951 in Cleveland, OH to father Rudolph G. Verner, who preceded him in death, and mother Frances Verner. He graduated from Brecksville High School in 1969 and from the University of Akron, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering.

Rudy and Faye were married in Brecksville on October 21, 1972, the next day they relocated to Norfolk, VA where Rudy served in the Navy on the USS Flying Fish (SSN-673) submarine, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation and Navy Expeditionary Medal. During this time he visited many ports of call and crossed the Arctic Circle, thus earning his designation as a member of the Order of the Blue Nose.

Rudy was a driven professional rising to the position of Chief Engineer, Research and Development with Nestle USA, where he spent thirty years overseeing projects throughout the world. After being diagnosed with leukemia in 2005, he remained dedicated to his work, leading the design of a new global research and development facility at Nestle’s Solon, Ohio location before his retirement in 2014.

Rudy’s love of engineering carried over from his professional life to his home and community. He oversaw many design and building projects from additions to the family home and barn, to baseball and soccer fields for the Walsh Jesuit and Highland communities, where he also served as a dedicated coach and league official. As his family can attest, he was always looking for another project to work on.

Rudy and Faye enjoyed travel with family and friends to destinations here and abroad especially where he could be near the water. Out of his many accomplishments in life, Rudy was most Proud of being a guiding force in the lives of his four sons and their families.

A funeral service will be held at NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD., BRECKSVILLE, OH 44141 on SATURDAY, MAY 2, 2015, AT 1:00 P.M. followed by interment at Granger Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of Rudy would be appreciated.
