SPENCER ERNEST AVEY, born April 2, 1929 and passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014. Husband of Joyce Stone Avey; son of the late Syril and Lula May Avey; brother of Jean Sweeney (deceased), Robert Avey (deceased) and Dorothy Brown; father of Kimberly Bolek (Rick), Scott Avey (Margaret) and Pamela Avey Sommers; grandfather of seven and great grandfather of five. Spencer and Joyce were married for 58 years. He grew up in Mt. Morris, Illinois, graduated from the University of Illinois in electrical engineering, was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and a lifetime member of the American Legion. Spencer served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959. He worked at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Club and volunteered at the Brecksville Human Services Center. Family will receive friends at NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD., BRECKSVILLE, OH 44141 on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. followed by Spencer’s funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Brecksville Cemetery.
