William E.  Eckenbrecht
WILLIAM E. ECKENBRECHT, was born in New Orleans, LA on Nov. 10, 1928, and died on Friday, July 27, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife, Carlie Jean Crain, a son, Christopher, and a daughter, Gretchen. He is survived by his wife, Linda, a son, Carl (Annette) and a daughter, Cecily Hardin (Michael), stepsons Nathan (Tanja) and Joshua (Nida) Huck, grandchildren, Louis and David Eckenbrecht, Melissa White (Andy), Neil Hardin, and Emily Hardin, great grandchildren, Alexander and Addison White, a sister, Mary Clare Brewster and many nieces and nephews. Bill was a veteran of the US Army having served from 1951 through 1953, worked for many years at International Paper Co. in Mobile AL, Cleveland OH, Chicago IL and New York. In 1977 joined Millcraft Paper of Cuyahoga Heights managing the offices in Cuyahoga Falls OH, Erie PA and Jamestown NY and was named Vice President in 1984. After retirement he volunteered at the American Red Cross in disaster services, traveling extensively to provide assistance to hurricane and typhoon victims until health issues prevented these activities. He was an active member of Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Brecksville. Bill was a Business Administration graduate of Louisiana State University, working his way through school as a Merchant Seaman traveling frequently to the Caribbean and South America. He received acclaim as a star catcher for the LSU Baseball team. Bill faithfully followed all of the LSU Tiger athletic events for the remainder of his life. Family will receive friends at NOSEK-McCREERY FUNERAL HOME, 8150 BRECKSVILLE RD., BRECKSVILLE, OH 44141 on Monday, July 30, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9201 Brecksville Rd., Brecksville, OH 44141 on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. where family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s name may be sent to the Organ Fund at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
